• It cannot be hardwired. I do not believe it will work in rain as the cover is not that great a seal

• I don't think so. The lock itself is installed indoors, and it doesn't look like it's waterproof. You may want to look at other brands/models, or contact one of the companies by phone to ask your question. From what I can see on the August Lock, I'd say "no" would be the answer for this model.
