• It may be turned off in the software that is being used to operate it.

• Yes, in the program being used select a different mic for input. For the classes I teach I use the camera for video and a blue yeti for audio

• Typically you change the input/output to whatever you prefer in settings depending on your setup. I have mine set to my headset and mic and it works fine.

• You should be able to. You’d just have to go into your computer(or software) settings and select his headphones/mic as his input for the mic rather than the webcam.
