In Specifications under "battery type" it says "not applicable". This is NOT ACCEPTABLE. What type of batteries does this need ? I am not buying a $15 trimmer that takes $5 batteries. If it is 2 AAs, that's fine, but if it some odd ball type, forget it. null

Its actually just 2 AA batteries 
.I was hesitant myself at first however my husband loves it and I've yet to change the batteries. Hope this helps

Read the overview features ,2AA batteries for the beard trimmer and 1 AA for the nose trimmer

I'm pretty sure it has an internal rechargeable battery. It can't be removed. That's how most trimmer's work these days.
