For the watch to be effective you have to wear it snugly.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It needs to be resting on the skin, otherwise it wouldn't feel your pulse. The walking thing- mine will "miss" the steps if I don't have my watch hand swinging -for example- holding my phone to my ear.

Also, you do need it to be snug to be accurate, but not so much that it's cutting off circulation to your arm/hand. Just make sure it's tight enough that it can't turn on its own. If I grab the face of the watch and pull it away from my wrist, there is about 1 to 1.5 cm of space between it and my wrist. My Peak seems to be accurate. If you are having issues where it's very inaccurate, you should probably go to the Basis Peak website for support. Or if you feel it's defective, take it back to the store and trade it out.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, snugness is important. If the watch slips up and down your wrist, the results it acquires would be inaccurate. That was an issue with me sleeping with the watch on my wrist. Sometimes the time I slept was accurate 7 - 8 hours, and other times it was inaccurate stating I only slept for an hour or less. You could make the band tight enough that circulation stops but you get accurate results, that will not work for me.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The instructions say it should be snug so the Heart Rate monitor won't lose track. After taking it off I have band marks on my arm. It is not uncomfortable but you will have an a band mark and may even notice an odor after a good workout. It's nice that you can jump in the shower with it on.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes. The band should be snug. For hiking or cycling, if you are taking frequent long breaks, it will not be able to track it so well.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I had this problem initially. It does not have to be snug, but it does have to be above your wrist bone. After 2 days wearing mine I wanted to throw it a cross the room. The flashing green light at night was ridiculous. After moving it up my just a couple inches it works great!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It might help, but I found that it was glitchy no matter what level of tightness I applied
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I would think that this is the issue. The watch must be snug to work well.
