A:AnswerThe router will run at it's full speeds between devices you have connected but anything that connects out through your ISP is going to be limited by that 6Mbps speed. If you are paying the ISP for higher speed than that perhaps you can get them to boost their side but typically they have speed disclaimers on every service.
A:AnswerThis wireless router is suppose to work with other modems. Belkin is a good name and product. I was a Linksys user for many years but I have found that Belkin is just as good.
