“How do I use this item in an area where there is no cable, just cellular internet access? I am going to Jamaica to a very rural area and I need to access the internet. There is reliable electricity through solar power, but no phone or cable lines. There are cellular towers through which I can access wi-fi but I don't know or understand how I can use this belkin product to get reliable internet access otherwise.”

If you have electricity can you get cable to connect to the Belkin Wi-Fi. Try this way, with your cellular phone. Good Luck .

You need to have wired internet connection in order to connect this belkin wireless router. After connect you could access wifi from multiple devices.

This product is not for you Nz. It only good if you have existing access to the internet thru a physical connection. Example: cable or DSL into your home. You're best bet will be to get a data plan on your cell phone that allows data sharing, and then to have a cell/smart phone that you can setup as a mobile hotspot. Good luck.
