    Does what it supposed to...

I'm running a dual monitor set up (hdmi & vga) connections on 2 32" 1080p tvs with Windows 8.1. The hdmi to hdmi from pc to tv has really bad quality. Tv tries to overscan and has different color scaling which couldn't be compensated by changing settings. It basically inflates everything on screen. I bought this device to try and work around it. It works as intended (hdmi from pc to vga input on tv). It produces a good quality image. Only thing I've noticed is that the colors are not as crisp as going vga to vga. When you first connect it you may have to go into the "resolution settings" and click the change text and icon settings. Once those were changed everything appeared pretty much the same on both tvs. NOTE: This device requires a powered hmdi port as this does not contain a power adapter.

Needed a better HDMI to VGA adapter. I had purchased another from Amazon, but the connection was loose on the HDMI end & would also easily separate from the VGA side because it didn't screw together. This one doesn't come loose from the laptop and the VGA connection screws to the connector. Which means there is no chance of it accidentally disconnecting. This works on non-Apple laptops even though it's in the Apple accessory section of the store.

Up to now it has been hard to find an adapter to change VGA to HDMI signals. Most people thought this was not possible, but this device does it and it does it great. Yes, you will lose some resolution because reality can't be changed. VGA will not give the same picture quality as HDMI, but for connecting two monitors to my laptop this product was excellent. I have a VGA cable going to the VGA port on my laptop and another VGA to this HDMI/VGA adapter. Now I have dual monitors and work like a charm. Also, compared to other VGA adapters to plug another monitor to your laptop, this one is half the price. Can't beat that!!!!

In all, it works well, but I have a few issues. My TV may be partly responsible for the resolution issues, but the VGA image was a little blurry and only about 60% the size of the HDMI image. The HDMI plug did not fit snugly in the socket, and came unplugged whenever I moved the laptop. I got the adapter because I couldn't get Windows 8 to output audio to the HDMI jack. Ironically, when I plugged in the adapter, Windows finally installed the HDMI audio driver. Now I don't need the adapter. but I'll keep it because sooner or later I'll probably need it again. The unit has what appears to be an audio out jack, but I didn't try it.

I purchased this to hook up my WD Live media streamer to my Dell projector, which my projector has a VGA port, to show my slideshow video presentations. The picture quality was excellent. Better than hooking up my laptop using just only VGA cable. There is a 3.5 audio port on the adaptor to connect speakers. The sound was not good. But, I was able to use a cord from the adapter to the projector audio in slot and connect my speakers to the projector audio out and the sound quality was a whole lot better. With this nice little adapter, I don't have to bring my laptop to present my videos.

Does not appear to work with Mac Mini

I bought this to convert the hdmi output on a Mac Mini to VGA. This did not appear to work. Having tried three different monitors, the device did not work, while the hdmi output when connecting the Mac Mini directly to a tv did work. Lesson Learned - a Mini Display Port connector is the same thing as a Thunderbolt port in Mac speak ... So the apple mini display port to vga connector is compatible with a Mac mini that has Thunderbolt ports. Who knew? As for this belkin adapter, Best Buy was awesome in allowing me to return it in exchange for what I should have bought in the first place.

The Belkin - HDMI to VGA Adapter worked as I expected. My wife purchased a new HP Envy. She thought that her 10+ year old 21" VGA Gateway monitor would be fine with the new HP. So we purchased this adapter to go between the new HP Envy and the VGA monitor. After using the new HP Envy with the old Gateway monitor, she decided to replace the Gateway monitor with a new 4K 28" Viewsonic monitor that has an HDMI port. We returned the adapter after purchasing the new Viewsonic monitor. Moral: When upgrading old computers, update the monitor too.

Purchased this item to add to a computer for dual monitor support. (side screen for video surveillance system). However, after setting up when I would move the Web Browser windows to that screen video would stop and freeze. Upon contacting tech support they recommended another web browser i.e. Chrome or FireFox. Their comment was Internet Explorer was too unstable. Chrome & FireFox still have issues but it is getting us by. So my warning would be the device only offers basic desktop video support not Full video support for all applications. Would definitely not recommend for motion video use.
