A:AnswerThere is a small lip on the top side of the device, so it can be used to hold a smartphone if plugged into the wall. It is flush on the other three sides. As a side, note I don't like the placement of the USB connectors. They are far too close to the AC outlets so if you are using any of those DC adaptor plugs the USB outlets can get covered. So overall I was not happy with the device design. Should have different placement on the USB outlets and should have 4 not 2 USB outlets.
