It will not automatically make the latte, it's up to you to froth the milk properly and pull the espresso shot. Once you learn how to do those two things, YOU will make good lattes - even GREAT lattes. You should use espresso ground (very fine) coffee for the espresso side, and drip brew grinds (medium to coarse) on the drip brew side. However, the grind on the espresso side doesn't have to be perfect because the portafilter has a regulator installed to help pressurize accordingly (it helps entry level users).
