Absolutely. It's a common misconception that today's TV antenna have to be "digital" or "HD" or something. NOT true. That's just advertising hype. Today's TV signals are broadcast mostly in UHF (Ultra High [radio] Frequency, RF channels 14-36), although there are still SOME stations that continue to broadcast in Very High Frequency (VHF), channels 2-13. These are all radio frequencies, above the FM band. VHF can still be picked up by old-style "rabbit ears" and UHF by the old "loop" antennas. None of that has changed. What HAS changed is that the same old VHF and UHF signals now carry digitized INFORMATION. Once your antenna picks the signals up, either your DIGITAL TV decodes it, or a CONVERTER BOX decodes it and sends it to your old analog TV. Another thing: NO antenna will pick up TV past about 60 or 70 miles, amplified or not. Why? The curvature of the Earth blocks the line-of-sight signals. Sure, the signals can penetrate walls and such, but it weakens them. If you put enough mass between your antenna and the station, the signal won't get through. (Signals like AM radio, ham, and "shortwave" are lower in frequency, and can bounce off of the upper layers of atmosphere to get around the curvature; like using a mirror to see around a corner. But the higher frequency bands like FM, VHF, and UHF don't bounce, and can't get around obstacles that are too big or too thick.) So when you see antennas talking about hundreds or even thousands of miles of "range" don't get sucked in. That's like the cheap imported pocket flashlights that advertise "990000" lumens and more.
