Hi Tom - We recommend using distilled or filtered water. Unfiltered water could cause mineral build up and stop the mop from steaming. We do not recommend using any chemicals, formulas, or cleaners in this mop.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Only water is used in this steam mop. The heat from the steam is all that is needed, and the floor dries quickly with no streaking. . Do not add anything else to the tank. The directions say to use tap water. If you have any questions about water softeners or mineral issues, you should call Bissell customer service and talk with their staff.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I would certainly go with caution with this one. Distilled is best as it's more of a guarantee that there won't be any build up in the lines. Probably NO to any sort of soapy add on as well. The primary use of this thing is to STEAM. If you want fresh smells, use the discs. You could spray solution on the surface you plan on cleaning and then steam mop it .. but I would definitely NOT put solution of any sort in the steam mop itself. I believe you'd even void your 2 year warranty if they found residue that points to such.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The manual recommends distilled water. Water contaminants will clog the steam nozzle, which is applicable to the question about additives. Spray cleaners like 409, etc. on the extreme dirt areas of the floor or surface before steaming. then hit it with the steamer.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If you don't want it to stop working due to mineral build up,which destroyed my favorite Shark steam mop, you have to use distilled water. I thought that my high end water filter took out more than bacteria and chlorine. Not true. Even though a softener is designed to remove minerals, I would not assume that it is removing all of the minerals in your water.
