“Is it known whether it will be able to run cartridges from the Genesis and SNES that someone still may have if inserted into the Evercade VS via emulation?”

No they are not physically compatible with other cartridges. There are systems designed for that, (or using software Emulation on a PC or a Raspberry Pi). That being said, they are constantly adding carts to the lineup.

It will only ever run Evercade cartridges although some of those cartridges have SNES and Genesis games on them via emulation.
