• A:Answer Batteries that dont get used might last 2yrs. That is a grossover exaggeration. If you ran the camera With no motion detection on and no recording and no sound on the low quality setting jus snapping an image every hour. They might last a month or 2. Heavy use will drain battery in a few weeks or less. I jus had low battery pop up and its been a week. In a high traffic area that is. So ill adjust settings but lasting to years is def false advertising unless Batteries are completely unused and left in box lol.

Q: QuestionI want to use these on my boat for backing up and engine room monitoring. I have an onboard computer and want to be able to see the camera images on the computer screens. I am hoping I can connect them, the cameras to the computer by wifi? Thanks

• A:Answer There's no reason you can't . . . if you can get wifi signal to your phone or laptop and if you can keep the control unit within about 75 feet more or less of each camera. They indeed are water-proof as to rain. . . not so sure about inundation, though. Happy sailing! PS: It might be slick way to keep folks back home posted on your whereabouts in case you get lost.

This is important to note for your cellular data plan, watching a five second motion clip without WIFI connection will use about 750KB of your data plan.

• A:Answer The Blink cameras, when armed record clips based on motion detection only. The Blink cameras do not offer continuous recording though you can leave the system armed for motion detection for any interval of time.

• A:Answer Assuming a fairly standard home (single building, no unusually dense construction materials), the Sync Module should be able to communicate with Blink camera units up to 100ft away in any direction. As far as how far away the system can be from the wireless router that would depend on the strength of your internet/WIFI, we recommend at least three bars of signal strength for optimal performance.
