Q: QuestionOur house is located where airplanes fly very close and very low for their landing. I understand this is very toxic what comes out of airplanes; can this air cleaner handle that adequately? John
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer I’ve been really happy with my Blueair purifier. It’s easy to use, quiet, and makes the air feel fresher. Airplanes fly really low near my home, and I know the air isn’t great—but I haven’t had it long enough to know how much it helps with that yet. Overall, it’s been great so far, and I’m looking forward to seeing the difference over time.

Q: QuestionOur dog was sprayed by a skunk and then laid down on our carpet. Bought Blue Air Extra Large. Will this help dissipate the skunk odor from both air and carpet?
Asked by Stinky.
- A:Answer I’ve been really happy with my Blueair purifier. It’s easy to use, quiet, and makes the air feel fresher. I don’t have pets, but we cook a lot of different kinds of food, and so far the smells don’t linger after cooking it’s been working really well for that.

Q: QuestionDoes it remove smoke smell from a burnt pot in the kitchen? Burnt smoke smell is strong
Asked by Yyyyy.
- A:Answer Worked great for us. Automatically sped up to HIGH (4) when we smoked something on our gas cooktop grill. Not enough to set off a detector, but really smelled strong. We have two units. Both went to HIGH for about 20 minutes and the air was fine. They cycled back down to Auto, which is silent.

Q: QuestionDoes the Blue Pure 211i Max incorporate activated carbon and UV light in its cleansing?
Asked by Greg.
- A:Answer Thank you for your interest in Blueair! The Blue Pure 211i Max uses four layers of filtration to effectively remove pollutants. First, a washable pre-filter captures larger particles, which also helps extend the life of the main filter. Next, electrostatic filtration charges smaller particles, allowing them to stick to the filter. The main carbon+ particle filter then removes a wide range of pollutants, including pollen, dust, pet dander, mold, smoke particles, viruses, and bacteria. Finally, an activated carbon layer targets gases and light odors from pets, cooking, and smoke. Please note that the Blue Pure 211i Max does not use UV light.

Q: QuestionWould this interfere with radon mitigation in a basement?
Asked by Sgal.
- A:Answer Thank you for your interest in Blueair! Our Blue Max line improves air quality and operates independently of radon mitigation systems. While we wouldn't expect our air purifier to interfere, we would recommend reaching out to your radon mitigation system installer to ensure there's no underlying interference in your specific setup.

Q: QuestionWe just purchased this model. It makes a buzzing sound after it's been on for a few minutes and it was vibrates slightly. What causes it to do this?
Asked by Vibrateandnoise.
- A:Answer It happens when it detects more "heavy or dirty " particles in the air so it boosts. For example, I usually have it in my bedroom. When I'm straightening my hair (burning) the filter detects that on the air and starts doing it automatically boosting the sucking of more air into the filter, you should see it changing from blue color to green or if there are lots of particles to red color.

Q: Questionhow long do filiters last? what do they cost?
Asked by DD.
- A:Answer I have been with mine for almost a year, and the filter still looks great. The filter overall has a fabric outside that also traps a bunch of dust, before making it to the real filter. So it will take a while to fill out. But of course it depends on which type of house you live in. I mean, for example, if you have a chimney and you turn it on every day, there are more particles in your house, so maybe you will have to change it more often.

Q: QuestionHow does the "electrostatic" work? Does it produce any ozone?
Asked by JohnA.
- A:Answer It uses an ionizer per Blueair support team. My wife is extremley sensitive to ionizer air purifiers. We found this out the first night we used a blueair purifier. Returned it the next day. Research filters that use ionizers. I personally will never own one again. I wouldn't have bought the first one but Blueair's description makes one think their filters are regular hepa filters.
