Works well with cigarette smoke. My husband and I both stopped smoking recently and it works well for when other people that smoke come over.

You'll definitely need to use the Smoke Stop filter which is designed to absorb gas and odor. A Particle filter will only be able to clean out the solid particles from tobacco smoke like the ash and tar but not the gaseous, odor causing particles. The other factor to think about is the area and size of the unit. The units are rated for optimum area usage. For example, the 403 is rated to be used in a room that is around 365 sq. ft. Be sure you are getting a unit that is rated for the proper square footage of the room it is to be used in. If in doubt get a unit that is the next size up.
