• There is an OTA version of the TiVo. Just make sure you get that if your not going to pay for a cable signal.

• No it is not OTA capable, strictly cable service only. I was disappointed about this feature but decided the 6 tuners with 3TB of hard drive space was worth the difference. I figure if I ever want a DVR for OTA I'll just purchase a TiVo Roamio as it comes with a lifetime subscription to the TiVo service included in its purchase price.

• the fire stick does not record anything. it only streams from the available services like netflix, amazon prime, hulu etc.
