Is it hard wired or is the plug the only option? null

The unit has a plug. You will need to have an outlet nearby (usually under the sink).

Hi Dishwasherless, thank you for your question and interest in Model:SHXM4AY55N. This Dishwasher includes a direct Power Cord. You can purchase a Junction Box with Power Cord, Model #SMZPCJB1UC.

It comes with a plug in cord or you can purchase a separate Bosch hard wired box that will then be used to plug in dishwasher.

Hard wired. There's a junction box that plugs into the back of the dishwasher that you insert your black, white, and ground wires into and screw down to secure. Then you screw the cover back on the junction box and you're done.
