• Hi there, thank you for your question. This model is not black stainless steel. The outside of this unit will have a black matte finish.

• They have a black "stainless" color. But the regular black is like the old shiny black you mention.

• June 2018 We bought a Bosch 800 series in Black. It has a shiny black finish (not overly shiny like a mirror though). Our model was available in Black Stainless and Black Shiny. Chose the shiny as it is traditional and will likely not be a fad. Very satisfied with look of dishwasher.
