“The installer says that this dishwasher is shorter than average, and looks to be ADA compliant. Manufacturer says it's just a newer type and the installer probably hasn't seen before. Anyone else has this issue?”

No issue. It has legs on the bottom and a big screw below the bottom panel that adjusts the height. I self installed and it was straight forward.

If anything it is slightly taller. The top rack which is the silverware tray is very high and cannot be lowered. The second rack is adjustable in height. Not sure if that answers your question but hope it helps.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I installed mine and thought the same thing until I leveled the front and back of the unit. It stock comes low as it can and you can adjust it up quite a bit. Adjust the back was super easy and done from the front as well.
