We’ve tested this detergent in our dishwashers and found it to be very effective. Pods/tablets are not the only detergent option available: there are also liquid and powder versions. Q: QuestionWe already have an independent water softener. Should we get a model that does not have a built-in water softener? Which Bosch dishwasher is considered best and quietest?

• A:Answer The use of the water softener is optional. Our benchmark came with a test strip to measure the hardness and if the water was soft enough Bosch recommended you didn't use it. The Benchmark is super quiet and cleans amazingly well.I put a pot lid with heavily charred residue in as a test and it came out spotless. The drawbacks are the controls are a little fussy and if you open it for more than a few seconds during the cycle you have to press the start button again. It doesn't do a great job drying plastics due to it's energy saving design but I have learned to live with it and would buy another.
