Should I buy the Bose 301 system or start over I have a Sony surround sound system that came in a box, some middle ear deafness as a result of a hand grenade going off near me....I have had a really nice yamaha amp, and simple but good speakers in the past, will the 301 system improve what I have, or should I start over with components, and add speakers that fit those components? Seems like the surround systems are just trying to do too much at one time.

Bose speakers work best at 6 ohm impedance outputs from receiver. Purchasing a new receiver now usually has speaker impedance from 6 - 16,000 ohms and is worth the added cost to make these speakers pop.

I am using a YAMAHA, HTR-6230 amplifier with a CD player, a Blue Ray/DVD player and like you I was using some very old but good quality JBL speakers. I plugged in Four 301's and the sound quality improved, dramatically!

301 is maybe too much for your amp to power. Get Onkyo TX-NR 929, get Bose Accoustimas 10 speakers as 5.1 surround sound. Since you have Bose 301 it will be 7.1. Add 2 more of 301 or lower to make it 9.1. Follow diagrams as provided.

i actually have a pioneer receiver and 4 of bose 301 system and the sound is great.had to move the speaker hookups but i got it right now.friends all say it sounds fantastis.highly recommend this.
