I see no mention of a Kindle app for hearphones. However, it shouldn't be necessary to have a smartphone with the hearphone app. There is a small control area on the right earphone wire. You can do most (if not all) of the things the app allows you to do. It's not very intuitive but she will probably become comfortable with it after using it. She should be able to play music or audio from the Kindle using Bluetooth. Perhaps you could get her set up by putting the app on your smartphone? The hearphones themselves are great! They really help in a loud environment.

While there is no Bose Hear app for Fire OS systems, you would still be able to pair to the headphones and use the on-board controls for this, although this will limit the number of options that you have available to you.
