The noise canceling comes from the sound received at the microphones in each earbud. Noise cancelling works best with a constant noise that doesn't vary much, like a fan. If the noise varies, like wind gusts, the sound is damped, not cancelled. Engine noise is blocked if it is above the cutoff frequency for the noise cancelling algorithm. I don't believe the microphone is noise damped at all. The level on noise reduction is also based on the fit and seal of the earbuds, an over ear device may prove better overall noise reduction. There is only so much you can do with an earbud.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I use them under my helmet and they do well but they pop sometimes rather loudly.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have a very loud exhaust pipe (ThunderHeader) on my Harley and I can hear sound great with the noise canceling on.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. Many of us want to hear the active sounds around us as we drive in traffic. These ear buds provide great audio without shutting out the world around you.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Bose seems to make their in-ear headphones to fit "loosely". Or, if you don't use the noise canceling you can easily hear things around you like a car horn. I have other in-ear headphones that fit like earplugs but make it difficult to hear exterior sounds. If you can put a tip that fits like an earplug on the 21is you will get the best of both worlds. You will eliminate most wind noise. When it come to engine noise, well some bikes are just TOO loud. When I bought the 20is and tried them on my bike (with my helmet) I decided it was worth keeping them.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. They certainly eliminate engine noises while flying. Would it be safe for motorcyclist to totally block out all sound? Think this would be a safety hazard and it seems most bikes these days are built to be excessively noisy.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I don't know about wind noise, but they totally block out a plane's engine noise. I mean: completely!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The don't make noise cancelling headphones specifically for motorcycle use because that is dangerous as hell. I own a motorcycle and I design products as an engineer...no company would specifically design them for such a use because of the liability associated with if you didn't hear an approaching car/truck/rolling boulder/woolly mammoth because their product was in your ear and you died. Use earplugs and use them at your own risk.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I disagree. That block all noises. I'm in my own little world when using them.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Probably because you are supposed to be able to hear external sounds like car horns, emergency vehicles, etc., when you're riding.
