We're sorry to hear you're experiencing difficulty with your SoundLink Color Bluetooth Speaker II. The speaker can absolutely play music while charging, and we'll be glad to help.
After you pair your iPhone using Bluetooth, you should still see a slowly blinking amber light above the power button when the speaker is plugged in with the USB cable. We would recommend trying this reboot of your battery first:
1. Connect the speaker to power
2. Press and hold the Multi-function button (3 dots) for 10 seconds, and while continuing to hold the Multi-function button, unplug the speaker from power
3. Release the Multi-function button and then reconnect the power cable. Please look for a slowly blinking orange light that indicates successful charging.
4. Allow the speaker to charge for about 15 minutes before testing the power button.
