• Hello, Joe. Thank you for your question! You can use the right earbud of the SoundSport Free on its own. We would still recommend keeping the portable charging case with you, as the case provides up to 10 additional hours of battery life for the headset. The case is also a great place to safely store the left earbud for times when you want to listen to music in stereo. Please note that the right earbud is the "master" bud, and would be required for use of the product. The right earbud receives audio from your device. We hope this helps! Have a great day.
