Q: QuestionI need to know how thick these are exactly ? Will be mounting these in a standard 2x4 wall with 1/2 inch drywall should have 4" total .

Q: QuestionI currently have in-wall speakers, they are vertical between the studs. These look like they need to be horizontal between the studs. True? (If so, This would leave a hole showing get in my drywall )

Q: QuestionWe have an older wired Bose Acoustimass 5 speaker Surround system with amp and an older Onkyo Surround Audio video Control Tuner Amplifier. Will thses speaker work with this system for rear ceiling speakers?

Q: QuestionSpeakers mounted in wall/ceilingSo these can be mounted in the celing and there wont be any issues? Do they mount to the stud or dry wall. Also would you recommend using one of these as a center speaker on a 5.1 receiver? Can they go in a screened in porch or would the weather get to them? Thanks

• A:Answer They do mount in ceiling with very little showing below ceiling line. They mount in between studs with plenty of room left over if you have standard 16" stud separation. speaker is within self contained plastic box which goes above ceiling that not only gives a "boom box" sound chamber but also protects speaker itself from stuff in attic space. Cut small rectangle in ceiling dry wall slip speaker which is somewhat like a J shape up into ceiling so speaker faces down from ceiling and pretty much sits flush with drywall. tighten 4 little screws from below ceiling and this turns little "dog ears" to hold speaker above drywall so it cant fall back through. Wouldnt use as center speaker but certainly work great as rear surround speakers so no wires show or have to be run on floor.

• A:Answer No you need a amp to power them the ipod cant do it and they are desinged to mount in the wall or ceiling but with enough determination anything is possible!!

• A:Answer A standard 2X4 stud is actually 1 3/4" X 3 1/2". I had the same question, but I read on another site that this speaker requires 4 1/16" mounting depth. Too bad, because I really wanted to buy it. This begs the question of why Bose would design this speaker so it won't fit in a standard wall depth? I've noticed a couple other brands that have mounting depths greater than 3 1/2", so i guess the intent is to mount them behind a cabinet or maybe ceilings, because it doesn't look to me like it will fit in a standard wall.
