  • QuestionWill this lens work with the Nikon D7200?

    Asked by Mindbender.

  • QuestionWhen will you have it in stock at the Henrietta store in Rochester New York? Also, I'm looking for the tamron18-270 lens or the sigma> Thank you

    Asked by walt.

    • Answer What's up, Walt?? I know tamron makes a few decent "ultra-zooms" , as you describe. Specifically, I have a Tamron, 28-300 on my Canon. You've got to have enough light, though - or crank-up the ISO sensitivty, if your camera can take it. Those ultra-zooms, unless you buy a VERY expensive one - often don't yield "tack - sharp" images - I think it's because there's so many lens-elements involved. Lenses 18-200mm ; 28-200 ; also 18-300 ; 28-300 can be found, by the mfg you name. You just gotta look-around...

  • Questionwould you recommend this for taking action shots?

    Asked by Margo.

    • Answer Margo, this "tele-extender" - in effect - DOUBLES lens focal length, as you know... The problem, then, is that - while you get a bigger image - you DECREASE the effective "light-gathering power", that-is (like in telescopes) the "F - RATIO" is doubled. I don't mean to "talk-down" to you, if you already know this. Simple fact is, that you will DOUBLE the size of the image - but that DECREASES the light reaching your sensor (FILM, in the old days) - by a FACTOR OF 4 . In camera-talk, you "lose 2 f-stops". If your lens is F/ 4, then this 2X "doubler" makes the F-ratio F/ 8 . So - for "action-shots" you'd better have a "big glass" lens , or else be shooting in bright light ... Good Luck, I've been there... -Mark T
