“I want to place this speaker very high -- up out of easy reach. Beside the initial setup, will I need to physically interact with this speaker to play music? ie on/off button, volume, etc”

No you don't need to interact with the speaker as long as you download the music/Bowers & Wilkins app. You will be able to do everything though that app and will not need to be able to touch the speaker.
