There are 6 standard workout programs included including stair climber, fat burn, and cardio modes. 5 modes include intervals, and then there is the manual mode which I most frequently use.

You don't need a subscription. Workout programs start on page 38 of the Owner's/User's Manual: https://download.nautilus.com/supportdocs/AM_OM/Bowflex/BFX.M8.MAX.AM.OM.WARR.EN.pdf Yes, I confirmed the programs in the manual are accurate on my M8.
