Samsung S5 question and NFC I have the Samsung S5 phone that has NFC which enables me to use Android Pay formerly Google Wallet. By having a metal disc on the back of the phone would the Android pay still work or would that act as a shield for the NFC chip rendering the Android Pay app inoperative.

My Nexus 6 had no problem using Android pay with the bracket installed inside my case. However, wireless charging is affected.

I have found that the smaller metal disc has to be used instead of the bigger one and has to be placed correctly towards the bottom of the phone. If it's placed higher it the NFC doesn't work

I have a Galaxy S6. I have not used it for Google pay ... BUT ... I have had opportunity to use the scan feature for order identification when picking up online purchases. It scans just fine.

I have this mount, and use samsung pay. I have not experienced any issues with the pay apps. 
However if you upgrade your phone or currently use wireless charging pad, it will not charge through the metal disc.

I was still able to use Apple Pay on my iPhone 6S Plus.
