• Any flat smooth surface works. Never tried it on a windshield but I think it would be fine.

• yes, it holds very well on a windshield. however, what ever it is adhered to needs to be a somewhat smooth surface. it doesn't have to be as smooth as glass but texture such as vinyl, leather, or leatherette won't work.
