Is the scan a pdf or image document once scanned? null

You can choose either a jpeg image file or a pdf.

You can choose the image type the scan is saved to, I have it set to PDF.

You can change how you want the scanned item to be processed and saved. I know you can do JPEG, PDF, and searchable PDF. There are probably many other options.
