• I have done as many as 20. The number varies depending on the type and weight of the documents.

• It depends upon the scan software being used and the computer's capability of managing very large files. You may wish to contact Brother support and see if they can provide an answer. I'm currently using a Mac with 8GB of memory and a 1TB hard drive and Brother's iPrint&Scan app, and have not had a problem scanning an 82 page mortgage document. I had to do it in 20-page steps because of the document feeder limit, but the iPrint&Scan app asks if you want to add more pages. The bottom line comes down to your computer and software capability. It works fine for me.
