Thank you for this great question! Once the devices are connected into the Cync Application that require a WIFI connection, it will stay connected to WIFI to allow for out of home control and will need to stay connected for that reason. If the device doesn't prompt you for your WIFI during the commissioning process, then it is not being connected to the WIFI at all.
