• Hello Dave - We appreciate your interest in the CVM521P2MS1 and we are glad to assist. This model has to be installed over a range; it is not designed for a countertop installation. Over-the-range microwaves ovens cannot be used on a counter or shelf and are not UL approved for this purpose. Keep in mind the underside is not flat on over-the range microwaves and would not provide a stable surface. Additionally, there can be a heat issue, especially if the vent fan or surface lights were accidentally turned on. We hope this helps. Thanks for checking.
