I own this and do not run hot water before running the machine. Yes you have to use JetDry or dishes will not be clear. Yes there is a time remaining display. I don’t know where or what the steam vent is? I don’t see any steam unless I open the door.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.1 - with any dishwasher you should run hot water before running the dishwasher. 2 - rinse aid is always a plus to getting rid of water spots 3- can’t really see the time remaining

We recommend running the hot water in your kitchen sink briefly before starting your dishwasher as this will allow the dishwasher to take in water that is 120 degrees Fahrenheit from the start. For the best wash and dry performance, we recommend making sure the water is at least 120 degrees Fahrenheit when it enters the tub. 2.) We strongly recommend using a rinse agent, such as Jet-Dry, as this will greatly improve the wash and dry performance of this dishwasher. For more information about this, we recommend you check out page 10 of the owner's manual, linked here: https://files.bbystatic.com/Qq1lWH7rlCEShEMZnZYQog%3D%3D/6edeab27-c0ab-46fb-b8b3-f7302725c9ac.pdf 3.) The display on the front of the dishwasher will show the cycle time according to the description listed under Dishwasher Control Features in the owner's manual: Multi function display, Last Cycle Memory, Cycle Countdown with LCD Status Center on door. 4.) The steam vent can be seen on the inner part of the door. It is the round circular device at the top corner. We hope this helps! Please feel free to reach out with any further questions or concerns you may have. -Chris@Café
