Depends on how you are shooting, if you are doing handheld, there is a possibility of blurred images in the low light places. The lens is not capable of a very large aperture, meaning you will have to use a slower shutter speed that risks blurring your images. This could also mean using a higher ISO which will create noise in your pictures. If the wedding is outside with great lighting, I don't see why it would not work. Otherwise, if inside, make sure there is good lighting and test it out in the place before actually shooting for an event.

You have to use settings that allow more light in. If you have the manual for for Canon Camera. They offer suggestions on settings. If all else fails, you can set the camera to full auto and get decent pictures. If you can, get to the venue early and take some test shots in the lightning conditions you expect for the wedding.
