“Can't find "P" mode on my new 150IS Nor can I find how to set the flash to ON, so that I can use it for fill light when the sun or other light source is behind the subject. In the owner's manual it shows an icon for "ON", but how do I set it? All I can find is synch, off, and auto. A friend told me I had to go to the "P" mode first. Well, I'm following the instructions in the manual for going to P (Auto Exposure), and can't find it either. HELP please.”

In order to turn the Flash on or off, you need to push the little crooked Arrow that is on the big circle between the "Red" button (video record) and the "Menu" (little button at bottom right corner). It tends to look like a little "Lightning Arrow", and its on the "Big Button" that has a "Green AUTO button" (on the Top of that Big Circle), on the Left of that SAME Big Circle it says "ECO", the Bottom Button on that SAME circle says DISP., the Right Button on that Circle is the little Lightning Arrow I was telling you above (thats your FLASH). The middle circle within that SAME circle says "FUNC. SET". If you push the Flash button it will tell you "AUTO FLASH" when its "ON", and "Flash will not fire" when "OFF". Now for the "P" (Auto Exposure) you can leave it on "AUTO" and the camera will take great pictures even in low light (with the "Flash On"). But if you wish to set it to something else. Keep pushing the "Green Button" that says "AUTO" (the Button that's on that Big Middle Circle I was referring to above) until it says "P" (Program) then you will see "FUNC Swithc Shooting modes" appear on the Bottom left hand corner of your screen (you have 5 seconds before it disappears). You can now press the Middle "FUNC. SET" Button to chose from a variety of settings and Lighting, Cloudy, Fluorescent, "Self Timer" (10sec, 2sec, or customize it yourself), Focus pixels, and HD quality modes (just to name a few). Push the Left "ECO" Button or the "Flash" Button (Lighting Arrow) to scroll between options, then Push the "FUNC. SET" Button in the middle to actually Select that option. If you want to go back or Exit, simply push the Left "ECO" Button Twice or Three times until your back at your main screen. If you want to switch back to AUTO mode, just push the "Green AUTO" Button again and it should display "AUTO".
