I bought this camera for a photography class I'm taking and I just love the photos whether in auto or in manual modes. It's somewhat easy to use the settings. I suggest reading the manual but if you just want to point and shoot and not worry about all the different settings you should be fine with this camera. This camera is a good choice because it has a larger sensor than the less expensive point and shoot cameras meaning that the larger sensor let in more natural light than smaller camera sensors. you could get some really good shots in a dark environment without using the flash. Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I am still learning to use it myself. I put the camera on auto mode most of the time. I have a couple of Nikons and I bought the G9 because I wanted something that was compact. Sorry I couldn't be of better assistance. But, it is my first Canon.
