  • General
    • Brand: Canon
    • Model Number: 0924C001
    • Product Name: PowerShot G9 X 20.2-Megapixel Digital Camera
    • Color: Silver
    • Digital Camera Type: Point and Shoot Cameras
  • Imaging
    • Image Sensor Type: CMOS (CCD and CMOS are the two main technologies used in image sensors. CCD, the older of the two types, turns analog light signals into digital pixels. This conversion happens without distortion, resulting in high-quality images. Newer CMOS sensors use transistors at each pixel to move electrical charges. CMOS sensors are typically less expensive, but also require more light to create distortion-free images.)
    • Image Resolution (Display): 5472 x 3648 (Refers to the number of pixels, both horizontally and vertically, used to either capture an image or display it. The higher the resolution the finer the image details.)
    • Image File Format(s): JPEG (Standardized software format(s) of storing digital images. The type of format chosen for capturing and compressing the image can determine quality, level of detail, and storage space required.)
  • Focus
    • Autofocus: true (Allows the camera to automatically focus through the lens, rather than by adjusting the lens manually.)
  • Exposure Control
    • Shutter Speeds: 1 - 1/2000 sec. (The length of time the shutter remains open when the shutter release is activated, expressed in fractions of seconds. The longer the shutter is open, the more light that is able to be captured by the camera sensor.)
    • Minimum Aperture: 11 (The smallest opening of a lens, typically expressed in f-numbers. The larger the number, the smaller the aperture and the less light that can enter the lens. A smaller aperture creates a larger depth of field, which keeps both foreground and background in focus.)
    • Maximum Aperture: 2 (The limit to how wide a lens can be open, typically expressed in f-numbers. The smaller the number, the larger the aperture and the more light that can enter the lens. A larger aperture creates a shallower depth of field, helpful for keeping subjects in focus and blurring background details.)
    • Shooting Modes: C, M, Av, Tv, P, hybrid auto, auto, creative shot, portrait, star portrait, star nightscape, star trails, star time-lapse movie and more (Exposure modes employed by the photographer to control the optimal aperture, shutter speed, ISO, and other settings for capturing specific subjects/scenes. Examples include Aperture-Priority, Macro, and Manual modes.)
  • Flash
    • Flash Modes: Automatic (The flash feature emits light to increase the brightness of a subject in dimly lit environments. Common modes include Auto and Red-Eye Reduction.)
    • Integrated Flash: true
  • Display
    • Display Type: LCD
    • Screen Size: 3 inches (Size of the screen, measured diagonally from corner to corner.)
    • Touch Screen: true (Touch-screen devices make navigating more intuitive. Using a touch-screen display, you can do things such as tap to select, hold and drag to move items, swipe to scroll, and pinch to zoom.)
  • Storage
    • Number of Memory Card Slots: 1
  • Compatibility
    • Tripod/Monopod Mountable: true (A support function that allows the device to be mounted to monopods and tripods for leveling and stability.)
    • Memory Card Compatibility: Secure Digital (The type of memory card(s) recommended for use with the product.)
  • Features
    • Integrated GPS: No
  • Connectivity
    • PictBridge Enabled: true (PictBridge allows digital cameras, camcorders and other image capture devices to connect and print directly to photo printers and other output devices without using a computer.)

Q: is the camera made in Japan?

A: Yes, it is Made in Japan.

Q: Is it better than or equal to G7

A: G7 appears to have better optics, 1.8-2.8 aperture vs 2-11 in G9. Lower number means more light transmission to the sensor which means you can use a quicker shutter speed. Quicker shutter speed equals less motion blur and sharper pictures. This will also benefit you in low light situations at night or indoor. With the aperture set to 1.8 and your flash turned off you can get some great natural lighting photos at night that are still acceptable quality. In addition if you choose to use the flash it appears the G7 has a slightly stronger flash max 13-23 feet vs 7.9-20. G7 also provides the option to shoot "raw" images. Which may not mean much to you but has advantages when processing images on your computer.

Q: Zoom

A: It's not made for long zoom photos. Great for indoor and low light shots though.

Q: Is this camera really easy to use. I am a beginner. Clerk in store said it was best for point and shoot. Need advice! Like to take photos of flowers, nature, kids at play, etc.

A: It's the best pint and shot cámara i have In my last trip the pictures are great even at night Time I will recomienden

Q: Can you take panoramic picture with this camera?

A: Doesn't appear to... lots of other functions, but looks little it doesn't have panoramic option.

Q: does this camera have a flash. is the flash operator controlled/ or/ is the flash automatic based upon light conditions

A: There is a flash release switch on the top u do have to remember to hit. But the camera will remind you. Once it is released there is an automatic flash setting. Hope this helps.

Q: Is this camera mark 1 or 2?

A: This model is the Mark 1.
