Q: QuestionThe Connectivity section of the spec says that the camcorder is not tripod or monopod mountable, surely that's not right? I use my camcorder for sports filming and stable tripod or monopod is essential. Can users confirm situation?
Asked by VixVeteran.
- A:Answer It definitely has the standard tripod mount for any tripod or monopod. The camera seems awkwardly shaped and large for a monopod but that's a matter of personal taste I guess.

Q: Question1. It's confusing in that the photos show a wireless remote control, does it come with that? 2. Can the viewing screen be flipped around where you can see yourself while standing in front of the lens/camera?
Asked by MrLaw10.
- A:Answer The Canon HF G40 does have a wireless remote control with about 12 buttons that comes with the camera. Haven't used it to much yet except for on/off to zooming in/out, still learning the camera. Yes the viewing screen flips all the way around so you can watch yourself while your recording yourself.

Q: Questioncan someone honestly tell me how good the video is on this, does it compare to the sony 4k?
Asked by kixx.
- A:Answer You really can’t compare a 4K image to a 1080 image; more is almost always better... I bought and returned just about every top 1080 (consumer not pro) camcorder until I tried this one. It is a keeper but different from 4K. The Sony 4K camera can produce amazing images but has a few downside: 1) The Sony viewfinder doesn’t show well in bright sunlight, IMHO the Canon’s OLED display is better, 2) the Sony doesn’t pan well (known problem), 3) 4K is more difficult to work with (large files take much more time to manipulate and upload)... You can work around most of those issues by buying a good computer; most any high end gaming machine would work fine.

Q: Questionhow is this camera (Vixia HF G40) different from the Vixia HF G30? The descriptions are almost identical.
Asked by jdawg.
- A:Answer I have the G20, a great camera, however the format used is taken in MTS mode and Apple/ITunes/ etc does not allow the ability to Home Share in HD to a TV or device. I'm not certain if in fact the G30 model allows the different formats needed to be able to stream your movies etc to your TV. I'm assuming that the G40 is appropriately compatible!
