The Canon HF G40 does have a wireless remote control with about 12 buttons that comes with the camera. Haven't used it to much yet except for on/off to zooming in/out, still learning the camera. Yes the viewing screen flips all the way around so you can watch yourself while your recording yourself.

I think you point it at the foldout screen, so if you are in front of the camera you'd need to flip the screen so it faces you. And yes, it does that. Except to see that the remote works I haven't found any need for it. I don't know what kind of range it has.
