A:AnswerNot at all you will not even know you're done until you hear the little click of the button when it reaches boiling point and the lights turn off
A:AnswerYes though I'd pour it in a separate glass jar rather than possible damage to it. Going from cold to hot and damaging the electrical parts at its base
A:AnswerKnow that container is All Glass the only rubber or plastic is at the top where you pour your water in and it's made to handle the heat otherwise what your boiling is in Pure Glass nothing else
A:AnswerThe base is separate but corded and the kettle lifts off the base and not corded. You can set the kettle on a trivet and it will stay warm for quite a while too. So, serving for a meal is do-able too.
A:AnswerI don't know I didn't read the booklet. I would check the manufacturers site if I had concerns. What I can say about this item is that it gets the water very hot, I had a Faberware one before and it didn't get as hot. This model was made for tea so it gets really hot. Sometimes I prefer not to have it so hot. Great for black tea not so much for instant drinks. There are temperature controlled ones for twice the price..
A:AnswerAs stated in the instructions you have to boil water minimum three times and wash thoroughly each time after that you won't smell anything and if you do it's only the plastic not the water because the water is in a glass container
