Will these work in the mountains null

i moved from phoenix to tampa in march 2020. my friend drove the moving truck and i drove behind in a car for 6 days. this only worked within less than a mile from each other. not sure why they would advertise such false information... but don't expect it to work if you're more than 1 mile apart.
