• they should. we have a 11 acres farm and have no problem with them even through the woods.

• Not sure but, I believe the radios should work as long as the radios have a good connection and in range.

• They will only work well on the ship if you are very close to one another as there is too much metal in a ship. On land they will work much better. I've played with numerous radios on numerous cruises. Better to pay a few dollars and get the messaging through wifi on the ship. You don't need to buy the full internet package to do this (At least on Carnival).
