Yes it can be changed in the settings to longer intervals or a continuous loop recording

files are large and easier to download / edit if they are smaller thus the 3 min setting is best . There are also 5 and 10 min in the settings area of the cam . I recommend 3 min

That is the way it was set up. You would need to go to settings to change the loop recording time.

In settings there is a 5 minute record option. The camera formats the SD card in Fat 32 thus requiring the short record times. I use a 64 Gb card and will record up to 9 hours but they are all in 3 minute clips.
