  • QuestionWill this power a Kurig potable coffee maker? Those things hit 1500 watts when heating the water

    Asked by Coffeemaker.

    • Answer The Cobra 2500W Inverter can power Keurig coffee makers, however depending on the particular model of Keurig coffee maker being used it may not be able to support running on a modified sine wave inverter. Check with the manufacturer of your specific Keurig coffee maker model to see if that particular model can handle running on a modified sine wave inverter.

  • QuestionHow long can this device hold a charge for camping etc?

    Asked by Greatproduct.

    • Answer This device doesn't have a battery. It connects to your own external 12v battery, either your vehicle's 12v battery, or perhaps a standalone 12v car battery, if you like lugging one of those around. So how long you can run this depends on a combinations of factors, mainly 1) how much power you're drawing (watts) based on whatever you plug into it, and 2) how much power you have available (how many Ah your battery is; but of course don't run your battery down completely!). There are some things that just don't make sense to power off of an inverter, even if you can power them. A space heater, for example. That would make no sense; it just draws too much power, and you'd do better to just get a standalone kerosene heater.

  • QuestionDoes this power inverter have to connnect to a cigarette plug outlet? It’s for my semi truck and I can only connect to the cigarette outlet

    Asked by Arod.

    • Answer In theory you could connect it to a cigarette lighter, but it doesn't come with a cigarette lighter plug because it's intended for much heavier loads than a cigarette lighter can support. If you put your own cigarette lighter plug on it, you'd have to be very careful not to plug too much into the inverter, because if you go over about 450 W, you'll blow your car's cigarette lighter fuse. If all you really need is an inverter to plug into your car's cigarette lighter outlet, then buy a smaller inverter, like a 400 W one. If you really need 2500 W of 120v power, then you're going to have to hardwire this inverter with heavy gauge wire, or connect straight to a battery with big high-current alligator clips. I suspect the inverter's user manual will describe the size of wire you'd need. My own inverter is just 400 W, but I mounted mine on a plate of plexiglass custom cut to wedge up flat under my driver's seat & hardwired it down through the floor & over to the 12v battery, using an inline 20A fuse on the (+) wire near the battery. The front panel outlets & power switch are easily accessible by reaching down below the seat cushion, and the front panel is back far enough that cords plugged into it don't protrude out past the seat cushion. I don't use it too often, but when I do, it's very handy, and mounted the way it is, it's super-convenient and out-of-the-way.
