- Answer I can't speak to your car, but I have been having these (Compustar remote starters) installed in my cars since 2009. I had a 2008 Honda Fit Base which had power door locks and that's it. If I remember right, I had to pay for an extra module, but that was a long time ago. What I do now is add the kit to your cart and check if it will fit in your car. Then check the price at BestBuy every day as they do go on sale (every now and then) for about $280 which includes whatever you need plus the installation. Also, give the store a call and ask the install department about specific questions. I've done that too and they were very helpful, but be patient, sometimes it may take a while to get through. I can tell you this, this is my 4th 4905S-Kit install in our 4 cars and I love the convenience and the range. I hope that helps!

QuestionDo these need special programming or can you take it home and install yourself? can use your factory keys as well to remote start the vehicle? Will it interfere with the glow start cycle on cold days? I have a 2013 ram 2500 6.7L Cummins turbo diesel.

- Answer I can’t speak for your specific vehicle, but I have this installed in two of mine and they both still need the original fob to actually drive. In other words, this remote start will do just that, but I can’t drive away without the original fob. Good news is this system works with many original fobs so I don’t even use the ones that came with this set. On the original fob, there is a button sequence to start the vehicle. Lock, lock, lock. Or lock, unlock, lock.

QuestionDoes this system work for Diesel engines that you have to wait for the glow plug light to go out to crank the engine. Also will it work the A/C and the heat off of the remote start.

- Answer Yes they can program the remote up to 30 seconds to give glow plugs a chance to heat up before starting. Works Great on my 2003 Dodge Ram !

- Answer I would ask the dealership or ask one of the techs at Geek Squad. Our 2016 Nissan NV 3500 van has the compustar and it replaced our key fob. It works great by the way!!!

- Answer With this brand I doubt it https://youtu.be/wmaR_GN7zok You may want to consider to install a drone if you want to start your car from one mile away or more My experience: I have changed 3 different one in less then two months The first one was the one way basic compustart best buy offers but the range was really like 75 feet only if one wall was between the car and remote even when on the box says the range was 850 feet (not true at all) I replaced it for a viper, this one says it has a range of 2080 feet I didn't try it that far but when I was in stores like Walmart even if I park far from the entrance I still be able to start the car when I was in line to pay this Viper make me think it really has the range as advertise ( in open area) I love the range but I didn't like that the radio turns off when I get in the car and hit the brake to take over the car, oh and every time I remote start the car it showed a electrical warning message for few seconds and it goes away, they told me is normal in this type of car but I didn't like this (the engine still running after press the brake but everything else turns off and then comes back on after few seconds) ( my car is a mitsubishi outlander push to start) So I replaced it for this one, the 2 way compustart the range is better then the very first one but not even close to 3000 feet like avertise it One remote starter from viper brand of one mile range maybe will do it, but I won't recommend this brand for a push to start car

- Answer I have not use that functionality but i think is good because my friend has it and we went to Maryland and his vehicle was in Minnesota but he was able to heat from Maryland

QuestionDoes the antenna have to be installed on the windshield? I see what looks like an antenna and cable running to the front windshield.

- Answer Yes. The antenna is placed in the top middle of the windshield next to the rearview mirror. The cable is run on the top tucked behind the headliner. This is for the best reception of the key fob.

- Answer I ordered mine online, chose my local Best Buy for pickup, and scheduled an install at the same Best Buy but a different day because they were booked. Expecting to pick up mid November and have an installation appointment in December.

- Answer Technically a remote starter will work in a manual vehicle, but not all are recommended in them. You don't want your vehicle driving off or rolling away. From the product spec page, this particular model is not compatible with a manual transmission. You might find an installer willing to install this model and bypass the clutch safety but that installer would not be Best Buy. QuestionI have a base model 2008 tacoma. I installed after market universal remote power locks which are not tied into the trucks computer at all. The question I have is... will the compustar product be able to operate the door locks? i dont want 2 remotes

- Answer Hi , my case is little different I got car that has power lock , but my key fob is attached together with the key , I don’t even need the compustar remote to remote start my car I just need to use my original keyfob with lock sequence to start it ( press lock 3x) So I just need my keyfob, hopefully thus answer your question.
