Thank you for your question! The Connect 4G is backwards compatible, so it can boost 3G. Your phone will always try to grab 4G and LTE when possible, but the booster will help on either frequency as long as it has enough signal to help. There are a few ways to point the antenna. One is, having your carrier help find the direction of your tower. Lastly, one can place a phone in test mode close to the internal antenna, while another person orients the antenna.
