You can't have anything going on the board without the software running, and the software usually sits around 12-45% of CPU for me whenever it runs. I can't possibly recommend this if you care about the lights or special keys (they stop functioning if you kill the software). They must be intercepting every key stroke and then also passing the color codes to each key in an crazy inefficient way.
It's possible you like the keyboard hardware enough to not care about the lights, but there is probably a better option with Cherry speed switches out there that doesn't need software to function properly. That feels like buying a sports car and being told you can't use the stereo while it's moving, but hey if that is okay with you...
